The new high energy CO2 ultrapulse laser is generally regarded as the gold standard for skin resurfacing. It vapourises water and tissue in an instant, tightening the skin and stimulating collagen production to produce a firm and youthful complexion. The depth of the laser is controlled by the computerised system to suit the problems described earlier. The procedure takes between 15-20 minutes for areas around the mouth or eyes and 60-90 minutes for a whole face.

Will I need pre-treatment?
Yes, this helps to reduce some of the risks associated with CO2 laser, such as, redness and pigment changes. The pre-treatment protocol - on average - lasts for approximately six weeks and consists of applying creams designed to prepare, correct, stimulate and protect the skin. You may also be prescribed antiviral medication two days before treatment, especially if you are prone to cold sores or fever blisters.
Will I need an anaesthetic?
With full face laser resurfacing a general anaesthetic is necessary. In small areas, such as, upper lip, above the eyes a local anaesthetic may be sufficient.
